Wasp Spider's Lair
Among the abundant foliage of a wildflower meadow lies the gossamer web of a wasp spider. This orb weaver lurks in the undergrowth, waiting to ensnare any unfortunate jumping crickets in its web.
To capture this bug’s-eye perspective, I used a specialist wide angle macro set up with a remote trigger to ensure that the spider's natural behaviour was unaffected. Wasp spiders are a relatively recent addition to southern England, expanding northwards from the continent to exploit our recent milder winters.
